Overview
Smarty is a UK mobile network that also offers an eSIM. Unlike the travel eSIM providers on this site, Smarty is a United Kingdom network, so its eSIM is aimed at travellers who need data and calls in the UK rather than across many countries.
How Smarty eSIM works
You order the Smarty eSIM and install it by QR code or through the app, then activate it on arrival in the UK. Because Smarty is a UK network, plans are tied to the United Kingdom and its own network rather than a choice of local operators.
Supported destinations and plan types
Smarty’s eSIM covers the United Kingdom. Its plans include data, calls and SMS in the UK, with options that differ from data-only travel eSIMs. Check the current plan details on Smarty’s website, as packages change.
Activation and app
Installation and account management use the Smarty app, with QR-code installation supported. Install before departure and activate when you arrive.
Hotspot, calls and SMS
Because Smarty is a network rather than a data-only travel eSIM marketplace, plans typically include UK calls and SMS alongside data. Confirm the current inclusions for the specific plan.
Where Smarty tends to fit
Smarty is often a good match for travellers who need a UK plan with calls and SMS, rather than a multi-country travel eSIM.
Alternatives
- Airalo and Holafly for multi-country travel eSIM data plans.
- Nomad for a mix of fixed and unlimited travel plans.
- Ubigi for broad destination coverage.
If you need data outside the UK as well, a regional travel eSIM is usually more suitable than a UK-only plan.
